There's something quite apparantly liberating with acting - and being able to do it well. Maybe that's why roleplaying - in video games, in therapy, in bed - seems to endear itself to so many people. Living outside of yourself while still being yourself. I don't think you can really roleplay without incorporating the reality of yourself.
Anyway, I was thinking about this as I watched Scarlett Johansson tonight on Leno and while also reflecting on her appearance on Letterman last week. She plays ultra-intense and serious roles all the time, yet in her interviews she seemed quirky.. a bit square-ish.. quite endearingly spastic. She fidgets a lot. her stories can lead nowhere with no solid punchlines - but she's laughing at her non-jokes. All of that is completely complimentary. I'd like to take her last name. =)
